Miss Gould was born on June 28, 1987. Karina Gould is a Canadian Liberal Politician who was elected as a member of parliament in the House of Commons of Canada. Karina Gould represents the federal electoral district Burlington during the 2015 and 2019 federal elections. On January 10, 2017, Kartina Gould was appointed Minister of Democratic Institutions in the 29th Canadian Ministry, headed by Justin Trudeau. Karina Gould is the youngest female cabinet minister in the history of Canada.
Early Life and Career of Karina Gould:
Karina was born and grew up in Burlington, Ontario. Gould lives there with her family. Gould had three brothers. Gould participated in the Forum for Young Canadians, spending a week in Ottawa learning about the federal government, which she credits as the impetus for her goal of a career. Then after this, she graduated from M.M.Robinson High School in 2005. Gould spent the next year at an orphanage as a volunteer. During the time of volunteering, Gould met her husband, Alberto Gerones.
Gould attended McGill University when she returned to Canada in 2006. She earned a joint honors degree in political science and Latin American and Caribbean studies. Evaluating her honors thesis on the Canadian Electoral System, she graduated first class honors with distinction in 2010. As an undergraduate student, she served as President of the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS) and helped organize fundraising for humanitarian aid for Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake.
Gould started a job with the organization of American States in Washington DC. She started with the position of consultant in the Migration and Development Program. Karina is cited as contributing to the 2011 report, International Migration in the Americas: First Report of the Continuous Reporting System on International Migration in the Americas (SICREMI).
Gould completed a master’s degree in international relations at Oxford University. As she completed her master’s degree, Gould decided to move back to her hometown of Burlington, Ontario. Gould continued her job as Trade and Investment Specialist for Mexican Trade Commissions “ProMexico” in Toronto. She held this position for less than a year before announcing her candidacy in thee 2015 election at the age of twenty-eight.
Personal Life of Karina Gould:
At the age of 24, Gould married her husband, Alberto Gerones in 2011. They gave birth to her first child Oliver on March 8, 2018, making her the first sitting federal cabinet minister to give birth while in office. Her breastfeeding her then three-month-old son during question period in the House of Commons attracted media attention during June 2018.
She spoke about the obstacles facing women in politics. She is also a social activist.
